Laura Ettel is a cinematographer, visual artist, researcher and curator based in Vienna, Austria. She holds a degree in film and media studies and was trained as a cinematographer at the Filmacademy in Vienna and in photography and fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She has been pairing with artists at the intersection of fine art and film and with filmmakers that explore film as critical practice. This involves documentary as well as fictional or artistic formats, in both cases Laura aims at building a strong connection with the talent and/or protagonist in front of the camera. Being aware of structural power relations and the power of representation, Laura likes to question narrative and visual conventions in order to create diverse imagery.
